Values

Guided by compassion, cultural integrity, and inclusivity, we serve individuals and communities with care and respect while preserving Tibetan heritage and embracing diversity. Through education, social programs, and empowerment, we strengthen confidence and resilience, promote mindfulness and well-being, and uphold transparency and ethical governance.

Our Story

Our Roots: Inspired by a Global Legacy

Our mission started in 1997 in Dharamshala, India, when the Lha Charitable Trust was founded to help Tibetan refugees and local residents. Many people came with great resilience and strength, but they needed better access to language classes, education, and basic resources.
What started as a small grassroots effort with English classes has become an award-winning, recognized non-profit organization. For nearly thirty years, it has changed hundreds of thousands of lives. The group has helped keep Tibetan culture alive and given people new opportunities through education and social services.

The Launch of Lha Tibetan Heritage Society, Canada

In May 2025, former leaders of the Lha movement started the Lha Tibetan Heritage Society in Canada. They brought a strong history of social impact, practical experience, and lasting values.
Our Canadian organization is built on compassion, resilience, and a commitment to keeping Tibetan language, Buddhism, and culture alive. Inspired by our history, we pursue a unique Canadian mission and operate independently. We are dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, helping newcomers settle successfully, and building a strong and vibrant society for future generations.
Official Status & Transparency
Lha Tibetan Heritage Society is a registered federal Not-for-Profit Corporation under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. It is also recognized as a registered charitable organization by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
